Srinagar, Apr 1: The High Court of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh has asked the authorities not to shift a detenue outside the erstwhile state without the permission of the court. The detenue Ghulam Muhammad Waza son of Ghulam Qadir Waza, a resident of Bagh Bandipora has currently been lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu. Bandipora administration had booked him under Public Safety Act in 2022 and 2024. Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak – the Counsel for the detenue pleaded that the detenue was booked twice under Public Safety Act on the same grounds and even when the court quashed his detention back in 2022, he was booked again on the same grounds. The Counsel further pleaded that arresting a citizen twice on the same charges is an egregious abuse of power by the detaining authority. The court of Justie Rahul Bharti listed the case for next hearing on 1st May with the directions to the authorities that the detenue shall not be transferred to any outside J&K jail without the approval of the court.
