Srinagar,Sep 11,
A Judicial Magistrate First Class court in Pattan has sought a report from the Station House Officer (SHO) Pattan regarding an application filed by a local resident, Dr. Javid Ahmad Yatoo, seeking registration of an FIR against the management and driver of Doon International School, Singhpora Baramulla.
According to the order accessed by news agency,Dr. Yatoo, represented by Advocate Mohd Afzal, alleged that his children, studying at the school, were using its bus services. He claimed that repeated requests for appointing a helper to ensure safe boarding and de-boarding of students were ignored by the school administration.
The applicant stated that despite warnings, on April 29, 2025, his son was allegedly slapped inside Bus No. 05, leaving visible injury marks. Later, on May 21, his daughter, Azmat Batool, reportedly met with a serious accident while de-boarding the same bus, allegedly due to negligence of the driver, identified as accused No. 4, Nazir Ahmad. The child was shifted to GMC Baramulla, where she underwent surgery and remained under medical observation for weeks.
The complainant said his grievances were repeatedly raised with the school authorities and also reported at Police Station Pattan and SSP Baramulla, but no action followed. He alleged continued “deliberate negligence and mismanagement” by the school administration, keeping children’s safety at risk.
Taking note of the matter, Judicial Magistrate Altaf Hussain Khan, while hearing the application under Section 175(3) BNSS, directed the SHO Pattan to confirm whether such an application had been submitted and what action had been taken. The court asked for a compliance report to be submitted before the next hearing scheduled for September 17, 2025.
