SRINAGAR,, AUGUST 13 :

Board of Disabled Cricket Association (BDCA) India has selected a specially disabled young cricketer from Central Kashmir’s Budgam village for One Day International Series (ODI) series against Bangladesh.

BDCA has intimated the 25-year old cricketer Nayeem Ahmad Malla who hails from Aarath village of Budgam about his selection through an official letter.

“On behalf of the BDCA and its Board members I wish to inform and congratulate you that based on your past performance and the recently concluded four days probable Cricket Selections Camp at Hyderabad organized by Board of Disabled Cricket Association, you have been selected in the Indian Cricket Team for the ODI series against Bangladesh. You have also been selected in test match and T-20 series against Bangladesh,” reads the letter received by Nayeem from General Secretay of BDCA, K Rami Reddy.

Nayeem is a well-known cricketer who has already represented Jammu and Kashmir at National level.

The jubilant family members told news agency Kashmir News Trust that they are really happy and wish Nayeem performs well in Bangaladesh.

Nayeem said that he was picked up by the Selection Committee during trials at Hyderabad. “They were impressed by my performance and I was informed about my selection during the trials and today I received an official letter from the Board,” he said.

Nayeem comes from a family with humble background. He doesn’t hesitate in admitting that he used to be a slopseller in Kolkotta and did menial jobs to support his family. (KNT)
