Falahudarain organises a lecture on Drug De-Addiction at Govt. Women’s College, Baramulla

BARAMULLA ,MAY ,09 :

On the second of the drug de-addiction campaign, 9th May 2022, Idarah Falahudarain, Baramulla organised a lecture at Women’s College Baramulla in collaboration with its Psychological Counselling Cell and Anti Drug and Rehabilitation Committee. The guest speaker Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Senior Consultant, Clinical Psychologist, GMC Srinagar, spoke about the substance use among the young minds and the approaches and strategies for intervention.

Presenting the data through a power point presentation, the doctor explained to the students that Drug addiction is a brain disorder, and not just a social issue. The stigma and myths around substance abuse must end, he said. He informed students about the reasons for worry, symptoms of the addiction and impact of drug addiction on the human body. He guided about the strategies to save the people from substance abuse. The speaker was to the point, eloquent and lucid in his presentation.

The session was presided over by Principal of the College, Prof (Dr.) Fahmeeda Bano. She presented the welcome address on this occasion and spoke on the need for awareness among students on drug related issues. Dr. Syed Murtaza Geelani (HoD Education) presented the vote of thanks. The session was moderated by Dr. Urfain Habib (HoD Psychology).
