‘Public lectures and awareness programs on Drug De-Addiction continue at Baramulla’

On the 5th day of the Drug De-Addiction Campaign, Falahudarain organised a lecture in collaboration with Baramulla Public School wherein Dr. Mudassir Hassan, Lecturer – Child Psychologist Department of Paediatrics spoke on the theme, ‘Substance Use Disorders. The students of the school were informed about the challenge of drug addiction in Kashmir and its consequences. In a simplified language, the doctor engaged the students on the theme and asked them to stay alert in the teen age.
The students were told that that brain in the teen age is in the developing phase and drug abuse complicates the brain function, causing craving for more drugs and eventually leading to brain dysfunction. The educational institutions have a great role in curbing the drug menace, he said. The session was followed by question and answer session.
At 8 pm, an online Question and Answer Session was organised with Dr. Maqsood Maqbool, Lecturer Clinical Psychology, GMC Srinagar and Dr. Fazl-e-Rub, Senior Resident Drug De- Addiction, Centre, GMC Srinagar MD Psychiatry, DM Drug De- Addiction Centre Psychiatry. The doctors responded to questions asked by audience regarding drug abuse, its occurrence, medical perspectives and remedial ways. The one hour long question and answer session offered information about medical facilities available to the patients in Kashmir and the relevant challenges in the field.
