Baramulla, June 25:
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a review meeting to assess the current status of ongoing land acquisition proceedings for major National Highway projects, including the Srinagar–Baramulla–Uri (SBU) and Rafiabad–Kupwara–Chowkibal–Tangdar–Chamkote (RKCTC) highways.
The meeting focused on the progress of acquisition related to missing, left out, and additional land required for the smooth execution of works. The DC directed the concerned Tehsildars to expedite the submission of complete and updated revenue papers, particularly for areas such as the Pattan Bypass and Baramulla stretch, and to ensure close coordination with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for timely award issuance.
The Roads & Buildings and Horticulture Departments were instructed to complete assessments of affected structures and trees without delay, so that compensation cases can be processed promptly.
While reviewing the Khasra Paimash of pending land segments, the DC asked officers to ensure accuracy and completeness in the documentation. He also emphasized the need to submit all pending title certificates and account details for early processing of compensation payments.
The Deputy Commissioner directed concerned revenue officials to complete the mutation of acquired land in revenue records on priority, to avoid legal and administrative delays.
Other key issues, including the illegal sale of soil by contractors and delays in the handover/takeover of acquired land, were also reviewed. The DC directed strict monitoring and enforcement action wherever irregularities are reported.
The meeting was attended by ACR,Baramulla, SDM Uri, SDM Pattan, SE R&B, OC Beacon, concerned Tehsildars, and officers from the Horticulture and other line Department.
