Baramulla, June 25:

In a major step toward ensuring consumer justice, an amount of Rs. 14,50,186 (Rupees Fourteen Lakh Fifty Thousand One Hundred and Eighty-Six) was disbursed through cheque to the complainants Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and another, in compliance with the order passed by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Baramulla.

The compensation amount was deposited by National Insurance Company Ltd. in accordance with the Commission’s order dated February 13, 2024, in the case titled Mohammad Maqbool Bhat & Anr. vs National Insurance Company Ltd.

The cheque was formally handed over to the complainants by President DCDRC Baramulla,Peerzada Qousar Hussain and Ms. Nayla Yaseen, Member, reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to timely enforcement of consumer rights and grievance redressal.

The disbursal reflects the proactive approach of the Commission in upholding consumer protection laws and ensuring accountability.
