Sopore, December 20, 2025:
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range, Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman, IPS, today visited Police District Sopore and chaired a detailed Crime Review and Security Review Meeting.

During the meeting, DIG NKR reviewed the progress of under-investigation cases across various crime heads, with special focus on NDPS cases, UAPA cases, and other serious offences. He issued clear directions to ensure time-bound completion of long-pending investigations, emphasizing quality investigation and strict adherence to legal timelines.

DIG NKR also conducted a detailed review of the implementation and progress achieved under the new criminal laws, namely the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). He directed officers to ensure effective compliance, proper documentation, and timely application of these laws in all cases.

A comprehensive security review was also undertaken, during which DIG NKR assessed the prevailing security scenario of the district. He directed officers to maintain sustained pressure on anti-national elements, strengthen ground-level intelligence, and continue proactive measures to maintain peace and security.

The meeting was attended by SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib, JKPS, Additional SP Sopore, Staff Officer to DIG NKR, all SDPOs, DySP Ops, and SHOs of Police District Sopore.

DIG NKR appreciated the efforts of Sopore Police and reiterated the importance of coordinated policing, effective supervision, and professional accountability to ensure public safety and uphold the rule of law.
