In a significant move to assess and enhance security arrangements for the upcoming assembly elections, Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) North Kashmir Range, visited Kupwara district today. The visit was aimed at ensuring a safe, secure, and smooth electoral process across North Kashmir.
During his visit, DIG North Kashmir chaired a comprehensive meeting attended by key officials including SSP Kupwara Shri Shobit Saksena, IPS, Shri Jageer Chand, Commanding Officer (CO) 127 BN BSF, Shri Sanjay Kumar, CO 98 BN CRPF, Shri Ajay Kumar Tiwari, CO 162 BN CRPF, Shri Gh Mohd Bhat, JKPS, Additional SP Kupwara, DSP Headquarter shri Mohd Rafee Rather DSP DAR shri Mujahid ul Haq DSP Lolab Shri Rayees and all SHOs/DOs.
DIG Maqsood-ul-Zaman underscored the importance of meticulous planning, execution, and inter-agency cooperation to tackle potential challenges and maintain public safety throughout the electoral process. He emphasized the need for maintaining law and order during the elections and discussed strategic deployments to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections, thereby upholding the integrity of the democratic process.
In addition to the security review, DIG North Kashmir also convened a crime review meeting to discuss investigative strategies, analyze case updates, and progress reports. The meeting focused on enhancing inter-agency coordination and fostering a collaborative and proactive approach to crime prevention and detection within the district.
As part of his visit, DIG Maqsood-ul-Zaman, accompanied by officers from RPHQ Baramulla and district Kupwara, visited the home of martyr SgCt Amir Hassan in Herri Kupwara, who sacrificed his life on March 22, 2022, in Soura, Srinagar. The DIG offered condolences to the family and paid tribute to the fallen hero.
Concluding his visit, DIG North Kashmir held a meeting with Major General Shri Mohan Nair, GOC 28-DIV, Zangli Kupwara, to strategize plans for smooth and synergized operations and to ensure peace and security in the region in view of the upcoming events.
This visit marks Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman’s first official tour of Kupwara after assuming charge as DIG North Kashmir Range, underscoring the significance of his presence in the run-up to assembly elections
