“Doctors prefer dignity over work place harassment; say will hit streets if matter not taken seriously”

Doctors Faternity Kupwara on Monday demanded removal of Block Medical Officer Tangdhar, after the 13 aggrieved doctors working in the remotest block has shot a letter to CMO Kupwara writing in detail about bullying behaviour of Block Medical officer Tangdar and en-masse resignation over the

“The grievence letter addressed to CMO Kupwara has pointed out in detail about the appalling work culture, corruption, harassment, threats, gross misuse of official position, and even threatening the docters to make erroneous entries in the APR’s, the complaint reads”

The second representation shot to CMO Kupwara by 14 doctors reads that the doctors feel alienated by the non seriousness of the authorities in addressing.This insensitive approach has prompted the doctors to go for en-masse resignation.

Dr Ayjaz Bhat said that it has come to fore that amid these terrible times, the BMO Tangdhar is involved in harassment of doctors which has prompted them to shot an SOS to Chief Medical Officer for immediate intervention and now they have decided for en-masse resignation is serious concern and will badly hit the rural health care services in Tangdhar.This clearly reveals the alarming and unfortunate situation created by the incumbent BMO Tangdhar

In statement issued here, the doctors body said that all the doctors of Tangdhar block are against the BMO for his misbehaviour.

Dr Gulzar Mir said it is shoking to read the letter which has revealed the pathetic situation created by the BMO Tangdhar. It is deeply shameful and highly unfortunate and I strongly condemn it and demand his immediate removal.

Dr Shiek Iqbal said that in these tough covid times instead of appreciation our colleagues are being harassed and tortured which is in gross violation of the Govt policy,and needs immediate reddresal..

De Zia said that the allegations against the BMO Tandghar are very serious in nature and hope that the committee framed germane to it will uncover the truth and submit report immediately to avoid any further escalation.

Dr Karamjeet Sign said instead of providing congenial atmosphere to the staff so that they will perform their duties with alacrity in the remotest place of UT, the rowdy behaviour of BMO has turned Tangdhar into a dystopian place doctors.

Dr Waseem said It is pathetic that our colleagues are working at the most difficult area(as I am from the same village, Tangdhar) of the valley in harsh conditions & then treated in such a manner that too by a person who is a doctor himself & also belongs to the same area.

Dr Showkat while strongly condemning the amorphous behaviour of the BMO Tangdhar said that it is highly deplorable, pathetic in nature and the authorities at the helm of affairs should immediately investigate the matter and take stringent action against the alleged officer.

Dr Muneer said that it is horrible and malignant to think that how could BMO stoop so low. Govt should take immediate steps to address the grievance so that such acts will not be repeated in future.

It is pertinent to mention here that in 2019 an inquiry of similar nature was initiated against the incumbent BMO but no action was taken.

Meanwhile Doctors Body has hailed the prompt action of Chief Medical officer by framing a committee which has been directed to submit the report in to the greivance within three days.

Doctors Fraternity Kupwara has appealed the inquiry team to probe the matter thoroughly and come up with a comprehensive report so that such incidents are not repeated anywhere.

The doctors body said that they won’t tolerate such incidents of work place harassment and can go to any extent for the safety and honour of the health care staff.
