Among Injured, 5-Year-Old Referred to GMC Jammu

Doda, July 15 :

The death toll in the tragic road accident in Doda’s Ponda area has risen to five after one more injured person succumbed to injuries, officials confirmed on Tuesday morning.

An official told news agency JKNS that a 5-year-old child has been referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu due to critical injuries, while 11 others are currently under treatment at a local hospital.

The accident occurred when a tempo traveller (JK06-4847) skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge along the Doda–Barath road near Ponda. The vehicle was carrying multiple passengers when it lost control, resulting in the fatal mishap, official said.

“One more injured person succumbed to injuries, taking the death toll to five. A five-year-old child has been shifted to GMC Jammu, and 12 others are injured,” the official said.

The rescue operation, led by local police, SDRF teams, and volunteers, concluded in the afternoon. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. (JKNS)
