SRINAGAR,15 JULY :
JK Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) has hailed the Government decision of restoring DA in favour of its employees and pensioners and called it a welcom move.
In a statement President Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC),and Chairman JK Teachers Forum Mohd Rafique Rather said that restoring of DA in favour of government employees is a major relief to central as well as State employees owing to increasing inflation and expressed hope that State as well as UT governments will follow the suit in releasing DA in favour of their employees as soon as possible.
Restoration of DA/DR which cumulatively will take the figure from 17 to 28 percent is a major relief to government employees, who were denied the same for last 18 months due to economic slowdown owing to Covid.
Rafique Rather said Dearness allowance (DA) is provided as an adjustment to compensate for the increase in the cost of living due to inflation. Computed as a component of the salary, it is a percentage of the employee’s basic salary. However, in order to get more resources and to coup up with the challenges occurred due to Covid 19 pandemic, last year Central Government decided to freeze DA/DR with effect from January 1, 2020 till July 2021.
Rafique Rather said, Generally, DA is amended twice every year (in January and July) but the employees have been waiting for their increased Dearness allowance and Dearness relief.”The wait is over now and the Government has took a major pro employee decision, smiles will again return to the faces of the employees and pensioners, Rather added”
President EJAC urged JK Government to release increased DA in favour of its employees on the pattern of central government so that they too are benefited by the move of central government.
