An 85-year-old man was killed after being attacked by a wild bear in the Latishat Tujar area of Sopore on Wednesday morning.
An official told news agency JKNS that the victim, identified as Mohd Rustum Lone, son of Ab Khaliq Lone, was in his orchard around 8 to 9 am when the incident occurred.
The sudden attack left the elderly man critically injured, and he later succumbed to his injuries.
The incident has caused panic in the area, while the wildlife team has been deputed to the area while the concerned police team has also reached the spot, official said.
Cognizance of the incident has been taken and further investigation initiated (JKNS)
