Srinagar, Jun 16 :
A 16-year-old boy named Shakir Ahmad, a resident of Bandipora, who was reportedly missing from Srinagar, was found dead in a Nallah at Kunder area of Baramulla yesterday.
Meanwhile, a day later, the family of the boy arrived in Srinagar to register their protest and alleged that their son was murdered.
The family members of Shakir, while protesting in Srinagar’s Press Enclave, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said “Our son was studying at Darul Uloom Al Muzammil located at Lawai Pora, HMT Srinagar. It was his second year there, and there had been no complaints about him. However, recently, the Ulama [Moulvi Sahibaan] present at the Darul Uloom called around 8:30 PM in the evening, inquired about Shakir, and asked if he had visited home. We replied negatively and requested them to trace our son.”
“We kept calling Darul Uloom until 12 AM, but they continuously told us that they were tracing him. Later, we received information that he was in Kunzar, Baramulla. The family consists of three sisters and three brothers. Their father passed away in 2019, and since then, their mother has been taking care of them. When she realized that she couldn’t support all of her children, she finally sent Shakir to Darul Uloom,” said his relatives.
“If our child was missing since 3 PM in the evening, why didn’t the authorities at Darul Uloom inform us earlier? They called us at 8:30 PM in the evening. Moreover, if our child was admitted to Lawai Pora branch, what was he doing in Kunzar? How did the authorities at Darul Uloom come to know about it?” asked the family members with tears in their eyes.
Later in the morning, “when we visited Kunzar, we were informed that his dead body had been found. His body was in a very bad condition and had multiple injury marks. Now, we would like to request the administration to kindly investigate this matter and deliver justice, as it is a brutal murder,” added the family members—(KNO)
