Expressed gratitude to PDP, Congress, AIP other for Support
Srinagar, Oct 25 :
National Conference (NC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Saturday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had approached the party with a proposal for a deal over the fourth Rajya Sabha seat from Jammu and Kashmir a move, he said, the NC firmly turned down.
As per news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), Dr. Abdullah, while speaking to reporters at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, dismissed allegations that NC had “gifted” votes to the BJP.
“There is absolutely no question of gifting seven votes to the BJP. If that were true, how did our candidate manage to secure 21 votes?” Abdullah asked, adding that instead of entering into any deal, the NC chose to contest the fourth seat independently.
The NC chief expressed gratitude to the Congress, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), and independent legislators for backing NC candidates during the Rajya Sabha elections.
The National Conference won three out of four seats, while the BJP managed to secure one after an unexpectedly close contest. (KNC)
