Srinagar, Nov 17 :

A late-night fire broke out in the Kralhar area of Baramulla, causing significant damage to a residential house and impacting the roof of a nearby local health center. The blaze, which erupted during the intervening night of Saturday, sent shockwaves through the community.

Fire tenders were dispatched to the scene and successfully brought the fire under control. However, residents voiced dissatisfaction with the fire department’s response time, citing challenges in reaching the service. “We tried calling the fire service on their landline but could not get through. We had to inform them in person before they arrived,” a local resident shared.

The incident has prompted calls for more efficient communication systems within the fire department. “Having mobile numbers readily accessible could ensure quicker responses in emergencies,” suggested another local.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the fire’s cause remains under investigation. The incident underscores the urgent need for improved emergency services infrastructure to prevent similar delays in the future.
