Srinagar, May 4 :

A firefighter sustained burn injuries in an ongoing rescue operation in Malakhnag residential area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.

They told GNS that one Constable Grade Adil Nisar Khan, resident of Jammu (migrant) posted at Headquarters Sarnal Anantnag was taken to District Hospital Anantnag with burn injuries from where he was taken to SKIMS Srinagar for advanced treatment.

A Fire and Emergency Department official has in the meantime told GNS that the rescue operation has entered the final stage. “Two houses belonging to Masood Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rahman Sheikh and Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Samad Sheikh have however suffered substantial damage in the incident”, the official said adding the probable cause of the fire is attributed to a short circuit.
