KUPWARA NOVEMBER 06 :

An Alumni Homecoming was celebrated in HAJIPIR ARMY GOODWILL SCHOOL, TREHGAM for the first time. The school has the fame of being one of the first and oldest Army Goodwill School. It formally started functioning on 01 Jun 1986 in Trehgam Army Camp and later moved to its present premises. The school has been functioning under Operation Sadbhavna of Indian Army and has been imparting quality education for the BPL children in the area. The school has recently been taken under the wings of Indrani Balan Foundation, Pune.

With a view to strengthen the school and alumni connect, an Alumni Meet was organised in the school premises. All the Alumni were reached out by the school staff personally and they were profoundly happy for the meet. While a few couldn’t manage a day off from their routine, 47 Alumni made it for the day.

The day long celebration were attended by children of 5th to 8th class and entire School Management Committee of Indian Army were present.

The Alumni were welcomed by a welcome dance by class 6th girls and class 8th girls showcased a Kashmiri dance. It was followed by a series of speeches by the Alumni sharing their views and the life journey post their schooling, which turned out to be a meeting of inspirations igniting the aspirations. It is pertinent to mention here that Alumni of the institution have achieved remarkable feats in Medicine, Science, Engineering and even have made it to Indian Army by qualifying various competitive examinations. Among those attended were 4 Engineers, 2 Doctors, 5 Armymen and 7 were in various govt departments. Few are engaged in preparation for Civil Service Examinations. The Alumni of the school have excelled in almost all the fields and have become ambassadors of good citizenry. Indian Army looks after the curriculum and frame disciplinary guidelines for the institution. On the occasion, the commendable efforts of the teachers in carving the lives true to their values were acknowledged and recognised. Principal Mr Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh extended the vote of thanks and the HAGS as a Family took pledge to work in the best endeavours of the institution.
