Locals and health officials term her patient and people friendly health worker, demand compensation to poor family

Baramulla: First accredited social health activist (ASHA) worker of Primary Health Center (PHC) Sheeri who worked tirelessly for Covid-19 patients and got hundreds of people vaccinated for died due to deadly virus.
Despite having taken both doses of Covid-19 vaccine, three days ago Khalida wife of Ghulam Nabi developed complications like chills and high fever. Her family took her to Associate hospital GMC Baramulla where from she was shifted to Covid-19 designated hospital at Indoor Stadum where she died on Friday.
“Yesterday my daughter’s marriage date was fixed and soon after the guests left in the evening she felt uneasy and developed high fever. We shifted her to GMC Baramulla where he condition deteriorated and doctors suggested shifting her to Covid hospital where she died,” said Ghulam Nabi Dar of Sheeri.
Health official and locals termed Khalida dedicated frontline worker who they laid her life for people of the Jammu and Kashmir.
“ She got hundreds of people vaccinated for Covid-19. She would visit Covid-19 patients and provide them awareness and education regarding sanitization and other preventative measures,” said Dr. Azhar.
She was recently awarded for her hard work and dedication as friontline Covid-19 warrior.
As body of the Asha worker reached her native village pall of gloom descended and people cried vociferously as she was laid to rest as per Covid-19 protocol.
A local Abdul Rashid Tantary said, “Khalida was people and patient friendly Asha. She made several sacrificed for patients and used to provide fare to poor patients. Today she sacrificed her life for people infected by the deadly virus.”
Relative of slain Asha Javid Ahmad Dar appealed government to provide compensation to the family as she left her poor family shattered.
Sarpanch Sheeri Ghulam Rasool said that Khalida was always at frontline be it immunization, vaccination, or heath awareness we have lost a dedicated ground level health worker to deadly pandemic.
“ Department of Health and Lt. Governor should come forward to help the poor family as her kids lost their mother at young age,” he added. F
Meanwhile, four more people died in GMC’s Covid Hospital at Indoor stadium in Barmaulla.
