SRINAGAR ,JUNE ,04 :

Notwithstanding the step-motherly treatment given to the technical assistants of MGNREGA working in JKRDD with regard to meager wages and the other discrepancies Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum Chairman and former trade union leader Abdul Qayoom Wani has urged the govt for the immediate redressal of these employees, In a statement issued here Abdul Qayoom Wani expressed concern over the discrepancies in the remuneration of these technical assistants in which they face deprivation by getting only rupees 366 per day while as the skilled laborers of MGNREGA get rupees 733 per day which is sheer injustice with these technical assistants. Wani expressed concern over the other kinds of discrepancies wherein the wages of these technical assistants too have not been increased for last six years while as the wages of MGNREGA laborers have been increased by 144%.

The injustice does not end here with these employees, Wani said, but their salaries are paid half yearly or if fast then quarterly that makes them face trouble worried.

Wani said a delegation of technical assistants met the JKCSF Chairman and told that they were employed to implement the MGNREGA scheme in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir but unfortunately due to reasons best known to authorities they were forced to work on other heads like CDF, MPLADS, CAPEX BUDGET, (PRI, BDC , DDC etc) without any proper order or incentives.

JKCSF Chairman has urged the govt to ensure the human resource policy, , CP Fund, insurance , TA and exgratia rights in favour of these employees as such to defend their basic rights at par with the other sections of the state employees.
