The Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla marked its significant presence at the 15th Haircon Conference, organized by the Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons of India (AHRS) in collaboration with the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).

The prestigious event was held at SKICC Srinagar from April 4 to April 6, 2025, and was attended by over 350 delegates, including several international faculty members, a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads.

The international dignitaries present included Dr. Knudsen Rusell from Australia (Past President, IHRS), Dr. Otavio from Brazil, Dr. Chinmanat and Dr. Kulkaran from Thailand, Dr. Zontos from Denmark, and Dr. Maxim Chumak from the USA.

The conference was organized under the leadership of Dr. Aman Dua as Organizing Chairperson and Prof. Dr. Syed Mubashir from GMC Baramulla as Organizing Secretary. The patrons of the conference were Prof. Dr. Iffat Hassan Shah and Prof. Sheikh Manzoor.

The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Iffat Shah (Principal Dean, GMC Srinagar), along with Prof. Dr. Majid Jehangir (Principal, GMC Baramulla), and Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb (Principal, GMC Anantnag). The Scientific Coordinator of the event was Dr. Ummer Yaseen (Assistant Professor, GMC Anantnag), and the Organizing Coordinator was Dr. Peerzada Sajad (Assistant Professor, GMC Baramulla). Dr. Atiya Yaseen served as Assistant Scientific Secretary, and Sumaya Zeerak was the Assistant Quiz Master.

The academic sessions were vibrant, with active participation from dermatology departments of GMC Baramulla, GMC Anantnag, GMC Srinagar, SKIMS Medical College, and other medical institutions. Students presented research papers and posters, contributing to the scientific discourse.

An All-India Postgraduate Quiz was also held, with four teams qualifying for the finals: GMC Patiala, MIMSR Latur (Maharashtra), SSKM Kolkata, and GMC Calicut. The GMC Calicut team emerged as the winner.

The conference was attended by leading dermatologists and plastic surgeons and featured a dedicated session on anti-quackery. Key participants included Dr. Mayank Singh (President, AHRS), Dr. Akshay Jain (Vice President, Indian Association of Dermatologists), Dr. Aditya Agarwal (Vice President, Association of Plastic Surgeons of India), and Dr. Swapnil Shah (President, Association of Cutaneous Surgeons of India).

The conference began with a welcome address by Dr. Aman Dua, followed by orations from Dr. Knudsen and Dr. Anil Garg. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Dr. Syed Mubashir (Professor, Dermatology, GMC Baramulla.
