As the COVID-19 cases surge across J&K continues and with doctors and paramedics testing positive for the infection, the Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar has now decided to engage the Final year General Nursing students of Govt AMT School Srinagar for COVID-19 mitigation.

“Pursuant to letter No. NHM/J&K/HR/ Dated. 17-01-2022 issued by the Health & Medical Education Department, the services of Final Year General Nursing Students are being utilized for COVID-19 mitigation to overcome the shortage of staff in the Associated Hospitals of this Institution. Accordingly, all those Final Year General Nursing Students (outgoing) of Govt. AMT School Srinagar, who are willing to perform such duties are hereby directed to furnish their consent forms and double vaccination certificates in this Office by or before. 2nd February, 2022 during Office hours,” reads the order issued by Principal GMC Srinagar, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

“No application in this behalf shall be entertained after cut-off date,” Order adds.

Earlier, the Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar deputed at least 40 MBBS undergraduates for COVID-19 mitigation.

An official said that 40 medical undergraduates have been roped in and engaged for a period of 3 months and have been directed to report to the HOD Chest Medicine, GMC Srinagar—(KNO)
