The government has clarified that there is no plan to waive Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans for farmers impacted by recent floods and the National Highway blockade in Jammu and Kashmir.

In response to Clubbed Starred Assembly Question No. 318 of MLA Hilal Akbar Lone and Starred Question No. 727 of MLA Saif-ud-din Bhat, government as per news agency said the floods caused significant losses to agricultural land, horticulture, livestock, standing crops, and other farm infrastructure. The total assessed damage for agriculture and allied sectors is Rs 209.21 crore.

Under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), relief of Rs 6.44 crore has been disbursed, with Rs 4.65 crore allocated to Kashmir Division and Rs 1.78 crore to Jammu Division. Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) are underway to process insurance claims, and compensation will be transferred directly to farmers’ accounts through the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
