MeT predicts dry weather for next ten days

Srinagar, Nov 19 :

The higher reaches of north Kashmir including the world famous ski-resort, Gulmarg, received fresh snowfall while the weatherman on Saturday predicted dry weather for next ten days in Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that the weather would continue to remain dry from tomorrow. “There is no possibility of any wet spell from tomorrow till November 28,” Ahmad said.

He added that the minimum temperature would go further down in coming days amid the dry weather conditions. “There were less chances for today’s precipitation forecast and the weather remained cloudy at majority of the places across the Valley,” he said.

The minimum temperature in Srinagar on previous night settled at 2.2°C while the maximum temperature today was recorded at 11.3°C. In Gulmarg, the minimum temperature settled at minus 1.5°C while today it was recorded at 3.6°C.

As per the details, Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 1.3°C precious night while today it settled at 9.4°C. In Kupwara, the minimum temperature settled at 1.8°C while today it settled at 9.3°C.

Moreover, several higher reaches in north Kashmir including a famous ski-resort-Gulmarg, Razdan Top, Gurez, Machil and other places received fresh light snowfall while Bandipora-Gurez has been closed for vehicular movement.

As per a statement issued to KNO, Traffic police spokesman said that the Srinagar-Jammu highway remained closed for 4 ½ hours from Saturday-Sunday 05 PM. “From 18-11-2022 to 19-11-2022, Jammu-Srinagar NH 44 remained blocked for 23 minutes due to road maintenance at Kunfer Nallah, blocked for three hours and 28 minutes due to a truck turning turtle in the middle of the road at Ramsoo. C-N Tunnel closed for 40 minutes by Tunnel authority, making the total blockage of 4 hours and 31 minutes. There was breakdown of 06 HMVs at various locations on NH-44,” he said—(KNO)
