Baramulla: While celebrating Gandhi Jayanti, health department kick started Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, or Clean India Mission campaign from health block Sheeri in which health officials, doctors and health
workers took pledge to dedicate at least two hours per week and 100 hours per year for cleanliness of the environment they work in.
Deputy Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chakloo flanked by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla Dr. Syed Mir Ji Andrabi, Nodal Officer Covid-19 Care Dr. Sheikh Farooq Ahmad and Dr Rudayna participated in the campaign.
Taking “Cleanliness Pledge”, the health officials took oath to keep their neighbourhood spic-and-span as is listed out in the “Cleanliness Pledge” they took on Gandhi Jayanti. The officers, officials and health workers voluntarily carried out cleaning of their office premises from inside and outside.
“It is our duty and I take oath that I will remain conscious about sanitary practices and devote time for that. I will devote 100 hours every year meaning two hours every week for reaching this goal,” stated the employees while taking pledge. The pledge says that officials will neither indulge in unhygienic practices nor let others do it.
“I will start the cleanliness drive from myself, my family, my neighbourhood and my workplace. I believe that countries which are clean because their citizens believe in sanitary practices. The pledge that I am taking, I will administer to 100 others. I will try that those 100 also work towards hygiene and sanitation,” said the oath administered by Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chakloo.
Dr. Chalkoo termed the “Swachh Bharat” campaign an attempt to revive the tradition of Mahatma Gandhi’s era during which all workers were involved in their retinue as well as social service.
He urged people to follow Covid- SoPs and don’t hesitate from Covid tests and vaccination.
