A Physical Education Teacher (PET) of Higher Education Department was on Wednesday booked under various charges including ‘voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty’ in Police Station Mandi of Poonch district.

Official sources told GNS that one Zahid Shareef son of Mohammad Shareef, resident of Chajla Tangri in Mandi of Poonch, currently posted at GDC Tangmarg Baramulla as PET, has been arrested on accusations of misbehaving with a Inspector rank officer. The accused, the sources said, has been arrested in FIR number 98/2022 under sections 353, 332, 427, 505 and 506 IPC.

Interestingly, the PET was transferred from GDC Surankote to GDC Tangmarg after a complaint was filed against him at his previous posting, the sources further said.

Confirming it, a police officer told GNS that charges have been framed against the accused person under various sections and law will take its own course from hereon. (GNS)
