Srinagar, May 11 :

As parents continue to allege that schools have been increasing the annual fee without taking parents on board, Joint Director Education said that the ball is in the court of new Chairman Mr Sunil Hali.

“Whatever be the decision of the Fee Fixation Committee, we will implement that order in letter and spirit,” Joint Director Education Rouf-ur-Rehman told news agency Kashmir News Trust.

“Since there is a gap of 6 months between the previous order issued by the previous Chairman and the joining of the new Fee and Fixation Committee Chairman, I can’t implement any order until and unless it is repudiated by the new Chairman.

“The ball is in the court of the new Fee and Fixation Committee Chairman. The Directorate of School Education will implement any order issued by the Committee in letter and spirit. It’s up to the Committee whether it will do away with the previous order or keep it intact, our job is to execute and implement that order,” he said.

Joint Director Education Rouf-ur-Rehman said that if a uniform order is issued with regard to the annual fee, they will implement it through Zonal and Chief Education Officers.

“I have no mandate to issue any directions with regard to hiking of annual fees in schools. The Directorate of School Education can only implement the order if it comes from the Chairman Fee and Fixation Committee,” he added. [KNT]
