Likely to visit Baltal, cave shrine of Amarnath; meet public, political, civil society delegations

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is all set to visit Kashmir on June 23 on a two-day visit to review security for the upcoming annual pilgrimage of Amarnath Yatra and to inaugurate various developmental projects. He is likely to visit the cave shrine of Amarnath for the darshan holy ice-lingum of Lord Shiva and meet various delegations of political parties and civil society in Srinagar.
Reliable sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Shah will arrive in Srinagar on June 23 on a two-day visit. “On the first day, he will chair the security review meeting including the preparations for the upcoming Amarnath yatra commencing on July 1,” they said.
Sources said that Shah will also meet many delegations including political and civil society. “He is likely to meet delegations from Gujjar, Bakerwals and also Pahari community besides SC and ST Community,” they said.
They said on June 24, Shah is likely to visit Baltal base camp of Amarnath pilgrims to review the preparations in place for pilgrims. “He is also scheduled to participate in a special Pooja at the holy cave shrine of Amarnath,” he said.
A BJP delegation is also scheduled to meet Shah during his visit in Srinagar. “Union Home Minister is arriving on a two-day visit on June 23,” BJP General Secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, confirmed to KNO. Same was confirmed by BJP’s Media Incharge Kashmir, Manzoor Bhat.
“BJP leaders are meeting tomorrow (Thursday) to finalise the preparations for the Home Minister’s visit,” a BJP leader said, wishing not to be named.
Meanwhile, security has been put on a high alert across Kashmir ahead of the Home Minister’s visit. “Security grid is already in alert mode in the wake of the upcoming pilgrimage. In view of Home Minister’s visit, all installations are on a high alert mode and security will be further enhanced on highways,” sources said—(KNO)
