Handwara, February 01:
The ICDS Project of Langate in North Kashmir’s Handwara continues to remain in the headlines for bad reasons.
Reports said that scores of Anganwari Centres in the Kralgund area have not received the nutrition (allocated diet) from the last two years.
These Centres, as per the locals, are Kralgund A, B, C, D, E, Nahama A, B.
Locals are seeking answers, questioning where the supply has gone and why these Centres were deprived of food supply.
Some employees at these Centres who were reluctant to talk to news agency Kashmir News Trust said that they brought the issue to the notice of higher-ups, but the officials on the one or other pretext avoided them.
“Whenever we asked for the supply, they (officials) resorted to dilly-dally tactics,” one of the employees posted at a Centre said.
An Anganwadi worker said that they fail to understand where the supply goes.
As the supply has stopped, children have stopped visiting these Centres. “Our Centre received a couple of rice bags last time, but that was not enough to attract the attention of the little children,” she said.
The claim that a high nutrition supply is being offered to ICDS Centres is a hollow one, exists only in documents.
An official feigned ignorance about the issue saying he will first ascertain the facts. (KNT)
