Evacuate Our Children: Parents Plea to EAM Jaishankar Amid

SRINAGAR, June 15:
As tensions rise in conflict-hit Iran, a wave of anxiety has gripped families in India whose children are currently pursuing higher education in the country. Alarmed by a series of overnight blasts and the worsening security situation, parents have issued an urgent appeal to the Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs, Shri S. Jaishankar, seeking the safe and immediate evacuation of Indian students stranded in the region.
According to official sources, the students have already registered themselves with the Indian Embassy in Iran, in compliance with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) guidelines, and are closely following all safety advisories issued to them. However, recent developments on the ground have left many students traumatized and in a state of panic, prompting their families back home to call for urgent intervention.
“We are deeply worried about the well-being of our children. The situation is deteriorating rapidly, and the psychological impact on the students is extremely distressing,” said a group of parents in a joint statement issued Saturday. “It is still the right time to initiate a safe evacuation before the situation worsens further.”
Drawing attention to India’s successful track record of evacuating its nationals during past international crises—such as the Russia-Ukraine war and Operation Ganga—the parents urged the government to act swiftly on humanitarian grounds. “We appreciate the government’s proactive response in previous emergencies and believe similar measures are urgently needed now.”
The families have also lauded the Indian Embassy’s efforts so far but stressed that the threat to their children’s lives warrants immediate and decisive action. “We trust the Ministry of External Affairs to treat this as a priority and ensure our children return home safely,” the statement added.
As regional conflict continues to escalate, the concerned voices of these families underscore the growing urgency for diplomatic and logistical steps to bring Indian students in Iran to safety.
