The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday reacted to reports about the signing of a strategic mutual defence pact between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, saying India will examine the matter in detail with its national security interests in mind.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a statement as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said the government was aware of the development, which formalizes a long-standing arrangement between the two countries.

He added that India will study its implications for national security and regional stability, reaffirming that the government remains fully committed to safeguarding the country’s interests across all domains.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have signed a formal mutual defense agreement.

“The agreement states that any aggression against either country shall be considered an aggression against both,” a statement from the Pakistani prime minister’s office says. (KNC)
