Jammu, Dec 22 :
Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat on Monday said that India’s growing strength and internal security preparedness have rattled Pakistan, asserting that terrorism will not be tolerated in any form in the Union Territory.
He said terror networks, narco-smuggling, organised crime and their cross-border linkages are under constant surveillance, and a zero-tolerance policy is being enforced to ensure peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 14th Police Martyrs Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament being organised by Kathua Police, DGP Prabhat as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, said that law enforcement agencies are keeping a close watch on terror outfits, their support networks, drug traffickers, gangsters and other criminal elements.
Prabhat said that every form of criminal activity, including terrorism, narco-smuggling and organised crime, remains under the police scanner, adding that the Jammu and Kashmir Police is firmly committed to eliminating anti-national and anti-social forces from the region.
He said that coordinated and sustained operations are being carried out in close synergy with other security agencies against terrorists, overground workers (OGWs), sympathisers, drug peddlers and hawala operators, with the aim of dismantling the entire terror ecosystem, including its financial and logistical support.
Highlighting the nexus between drugs and terrorism, the DGP said drug trafficking and hawala networks are being treated as grave national security threats, as their proceeds are often diverted to fund terror activities.
Referring to border security, Prabhat said infiltration attempts, cross-border smuggling, drone activities and other hostile actions from across the border are being effectively thwarted by the security forces.
In a lighter but strong remark during the event, the DGP said that “cheers on every four and six in India send shockwaves in Shakargarh (Pakistan),” drawing applause from the audience and underlining national morale and unity.
He added that the overall security scenario is reviewed regularly at the highest level, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chairing periodic meetings, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah is kept apprised of developments and progress in counter-terror operations.
The DGP said such sporting events honour the sacrifices of police martyrs and also strengthen bonds between the police and the public. (KNC)
