Tax collection and socio-economic development go hand in hand, AC Income Tax

Suggestions and feedbacks of stakeholders with regard to Income Tax and GST also heard

Baramulla, December 07:

On the directions of Ministry of Finance, Govt of India and Continuing an outreach programmes across the UT of J&K, Taxpayers Awareness Campaign, ‘Mulaqaat’ was today organised by Income Tax and Central GST Department with various stakeholders here at Dak Bunglow.

The proceedings were chaired by Neeraj Chubay, Additional Commissioner GST Chandigarh, Varun Soni, Deputy Commissioner Central GST Chandigarh, Abhishri, Assisstant Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar and Income Tax Officer Baramulla.

The representatives of the local youth, trade communities, shopkeepers & businessmen besides officials of the concerned departments participated on the occassion.

Along with spreading awareness amongst the taxpayers regarding Income Tax Slab rates, Assistant Commissioner Income Tax informed the traders regarding various sections of presumptive taxation scheme of the Income Tax, which provide facility of filing return without accounts audited and without the need to maintain books of accounts.

She urged and motivated the stakeholders to contribute to the task of Nation Building as honest and proud taxpayers.

On the occasion, special emphasis was given to encourage the locals to pay their taxes diligently.

Assistant Commissioner Income Tax said that Tax collection and socio-economic development go hand in hand, therefore one must be aware of paying it as part of his obligations.

During feedback from the locals, several youth raised concerns about the complicated nature of the Income Tax and GST laws.

The locals unanimously requested that awareness and educational camps be held in Baramulla district in order to educate the public about the same.

They insisted that the locals want to pay taxes but they need guidance with respect to the same to encourage voluntary compliance.

After listening the feedbacks, both the Departments assured the locals that they were committed to the best taxpayer services.
They also said and that there is no scope of any bias any more under the new transparent and accountable tax regime.

Other than feedback regarding taxation issues, the participants were urged to talk about their aspirations from the upcoming Union Budget.

With regard to the Union Budget, the locals gave their ideas and suggestions, centric to development of Barmamula district.

Overall in highly productive detailed interactive sessions voices, thoughts and ideas were heard and recorded by Income Tax and Central GST Departments.
