SRINAGAR, DECEMBER,28:
Notwithstanding the pain caused by the death of an old age pensioner in Bandipore few days back in the pathetic condition of completing the complex formalities for online updating of the particulars of pensioners and others, Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has taken a dig on the govts policy of throwing the senior citizens to the wall of pains and pressures. In a statement issued here, Chairman JKCSF Abdul Qayoom Wani said that pushing all categories of pensioners ranging from handicapped lot to the retired employee pensioners, to the wall of trouble in the name of verification and digitization it only means to annoy them than to encourage them with the bonus of doorstep verification and time bound clearance of documents by the concerned revenue officials.
“Amid shivering cold, thousands of old age pensioners and other beneficiaries in Kashmir have been made to run from pillar to post regularising their pension documents, handicapped and widows are not in less trouble. Is this the respect, Govt deems fit for these destitute and senior citizens” Wani questioned
Jammu and Kashmir Civil society Forum has strongly recommended to the govt to rollback the orders of this type of verification wherein the old aged, widows, handicapped and the patients happen to move from pillar to post to complete the complex type of verification set for them by the govt, JKCSF, instead has advocated for a strategy that facilitates the doorstep verification of all categories of pensioners and beneficiaries. The forum has asked the govt to take the remedial measures before some other person losses life to this worst kind of verification system۔
