Srinagar , December 29:
Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has expressed its concern over what it called a ‘secret design’ to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir. Reacting to the latest “Real Estate Summit” organized by the government to encourage corporate companies to buy land and other properties in Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum issued a statement here revealing that it was indeed a chronology of events to change the demography of the state which not only will effect and endanger the livelihood of farmers but will have far reaching impact on the socio-political domain of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum, Abdul Qayoom Wani expressed anguish over the “ Real Estate Summit” that he said was to sell the lands of Jammu and Kashmir to outside investors, “ Govt has been weighing the moods of people of Jammu and Kashmir for long to check their moods and to take these decisions, first such laws were diluted for the conversion of agricultural land into non-agricultural purposes and not many days have passed now the ‘Real Estate Summit’ provisions are being opened for outside investors to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir and the irony is this all is done in the name of prosperity and development” Wani said
“ For businessmen and industrialists there have been provisions of land-lease already in vogue, which expire after a long time period laid down by the business experts here and also elsewhere, there is no need to transfer the land to outsiders in any other way. Jammu and Kashmir lands are exceptionally essential, soil-special for fruits, flowers and agronomic and deserve to be preserved and reserved for the people of Jammu and Kashmir exclusively” reads the statement
Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum vehemently opposes any move to, use, sell and donate the lands of Jammu and Kashmir under any title to any individual or company or a corporation. Society believes that lands of Jammu and Kashmir belong to its own people and they only know and are privileged to use and preserve it for development and prosperity and all stakeholders are morally and constitutionally bound to respect and honor the sentiments of the people.
