Senior BJP leader M.Anwar Khan nominated for overall incharge of constituted coordination committee for G20 meetings in UT.
Srinagar:Jammu and Kashmir will host the 2023 meetings of the G20, an influential group of the world’s major economies. Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) high command has set up a committee headed by its senior leader Mohammad Anwar Khan, for overall coordination of G20 meetings and other programmes to be held in the Union Territory.
According to Khan , India had assumed the G-20 presidency from December 1, 2022, and will convene the first G20 leaders’ summit this year 2023.”I have been nominated by the party high command, as overall incharge for coordinating the preparations, arrangements, protocol and meetings of G20 leaders in UT jammu and Kashmir, told Khan.”He said the meetings under India’s presidency were also an opportunity to share Jammu and Kashmir’s achievements and showcase its rich cultural heritage.He said that on the instructions of party high command different programmes, events, meetings and seminars will be conducted on G20 summit in universities, educational institutions,and tourist resorts across the UT.This will be the first major international summit to be held in Jammu and Kashmir after the erstwhile state’s special status guaranteed under Article 370 was withdrawn and it was divided into two union territories in August 2019.India’s representation at G20 summits has been led by Prime Minister Modi since 2014. The G20 countries include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United States and the United Kingdom.
