Pandit community takes out procession after two years in Sgr

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 30 :

After two years of gap due to Covid-19 restrictions, Janmashtami procession organised by Pandit community took out today from Iskon Temple Kath Shala and passed through Zaindar Mohalla , Shaheed Gunj, Lalchowk , Regal chowk , Hari Singh High Street with adequate security arrangements.

Talking with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Pandith Patit Pawan Chetan Das thanked people and administration for making the festival successful.

“We are thankful to all Kashmiri brethren and pray that this brotherhood will continue forever in our Kashmir. We are also thankful to security arrangements and administration for this peaceful procession held today,” Das said.

However, the number of participants were less as compared to previous years when the last procession on Janmashtami was taken out in Srinagar.

During the past two years, the procession could not be taken out due to curfew restrictions after the abrogation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir followed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Janmashtami is also known as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami ,Janmashtami festival marks the birth of Lord Krishna who is lovingly known as Kanha.

He is considered one of the most powerful human incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Dahi Handi is one of the most festive events of the Janmashtami celebration—(KNO)
