Heewan Baramulla — The Narvaw Literary Society, organized the “Jashn-e-Zaffran Narvaw” on Saturday, a significant event held in Heewan Narvaw, Baramulla, dedicated to celebrating and supporting local agripreneurs, young innovators, and entrepreneurs.
This landmark gathering aimed to foster growth in the local agricultural sector by honoring individuals who have contributed significantly to the community’s progress.Under the leadership of its founder, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Rather, NLS aimed to highlight and recognise Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, an agripreneur whose pioneering work introduced saffron cultivation to Narvaw for the first time, igniting hope for future agricultural prosperity in the region.
Mudasir’s groundbreaking initiative in saffron farming has opened new avenues for local farmers, symbolizing Narvaw’s potential as a fertile ground for valuable crops.
Distinguished guests graced the event, lending their support and encouragement to the budding talents of Narvaw. Among them were Professor Abdul Majeed Chalkoo, Head of Botany, Government Degree College Boys, Anantnag,Professor Muhammad Aslam Bhat, Retired Professor in Botany, Irshad Ahmad Dar, Member of the Kisan Advisory Board, Pampore,Haamid Ali Khan, Horticulture Development Officer, Heewan,Gurdeep Singh Ji, Agriculture Extension Officer Zone Narvaw, Bashar Zogiyari, a renowned poet from Zogiyar Narvaw, Baramulla, Dr. Javed Qadir Zargar, Lecturer at Government Higher Secondary School, Fatehgarh Narvaw, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, Former Sarpanch, Heewan Narvaw, Reyaz Ahmad Ganai, an educator and innovator from Sheeri Narvaw,Fayaz Ahmad Bukhari and Manzoor Sheeri, media professionals from Narvaw.
During the event, several young innovators and poets were awarded the prestigious title “Sitar-i-Narvaw” for their inspiring contributions to uplifting the community. The awardees included Bashar Zogiyari from Zogiyar Narvaw, Sheikh Anzar Amin from Fatehgarh, Toufeeq Showkat Fafoo and Mr. Sahil Tariq Dar from Shalteng Narvaw, and Adnan Irshad Rather from Malpora Narvaw.
Speakers on this occasion encouraged the budding agripreneur and young innovators with a strong resolve to support them in every possible way, both through personal initiatives and through the resources of their respective departments. Their words of encouragement emphasized a commitment to nurturing local talent and fostering sustainable growth in the Narvaw region.
Students from Greenland Public School in Fatehgarh Narvaw, along with local residents and Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad, a young activist from Heewan, also attended the event.
