Jammu and Kashmir’s
Minister Agriculture, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, Javed Ahmad Dar, along with National Conference’s Baramulla District President and MLA Uri Dr. Sajjad Shafi, MLA Baramulla Javed Hassan Beigh, and other leaders and officials, visited the villages of Nowshera and Bernate in Boniyar tehsil today. They met with the bereaved families to offer condolences over the recent deaths of two potters working with the army in Botapathri, Gulmarg namely Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary from Nowshera and Manzoor Ahmad Mir from Bernate .
Minister Javed Ahmad Dar and MLA Uri Dr. Sajjad Shafi assured the grieving families that the government would take every possible measure for their rehabilitation. They pledged to discuss this matter with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior army officials, aiming to arrange free education for the children of the deceased.
Earlier, on the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MLA Uri Dr. Sajjad Shafi, the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla visited Boniyar to console both families and provided financial relief of 6 lakh rupees per family. Dr. Sajjad Shafi had already brought this issue to the Chief Minister’s attention, and he appealed to the Union Home Ministry to offer financial assistance and employment to the families of the victims.
Dr. Sajjad Shafi also directed local officials to prepare an ex gratia relief case for the victims and promptly forward it to higher authorities.
During the visit, the minister and the MLAs also went to the home of late Fareed Ahmad Sood, a National Conference worker from Bernate village who served as a party agent on polling day and had passed away later that night. They extended condolences to the bereaved family. In his address at the condolence gathering, Dr. Sajjad Shafi expressed that the people have consistently faced significant challenges and made sacrifices in terms of life and finances. He highlighted that the National Conference has always represented and served the people, considering them as the source of strength from the beginning, achieving each milestone with their overwhelming support and cooperation.
Dr. Sajjad Shafi emphasized that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to addressing essential issues like ration, electricity, and water on a priority basis.
Present at the occasion were National Conference’s Tehsil President Raja Javed, Mohammad Altaf Mir, Block President Nazir Ahmad Chak, Mehtab Sheikh , Dr. Sheikh Farooq, Fareed Ahmad Khan, and other officials, along with youth wing members.
