Jammu, Aug 18 :
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a Union Territory-level Census Coordination Committee tasked with ensuring smooth planning, implementation, and monitoring of the upcoming Population Census 2027.
According to Government Order as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of J&K. The Director of Census Operations, J&K has been appointed as the convener.
The members of the panel include Administrative Secretaries of the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, Finance Department, Housing & Urban Development Department, Revenue Department, School Education Department, and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department, besides the Director Planning (Expenditure Division-II, Finance Department).
The terms of reference mandate the committee to coordinate all Census-related activities in the Union Territory, ensure timely availability of infrastructure, logistics, and resources, and periodically review the progress of Census 2027 operations. (KNC)
