The Jammu and Kashmir administration has selected eleven journalists for the Union Territory’s prestigious media awards for their exemplary contribution to journalism.

The awards will be presented on Republic Day 2026.

According to an official order each awardee will receive a cash prize of ₹51,000 along with a citation.

The list of awardees includes prominent journalists from both the Jammu and Kashmir regions, representing national media organisations.

Among those selected are Inayat Jahangir, Bureau Chief of PTI in Srinagar, and Somil Abrol, Correspondent and In-Charge of PTI Video Service in Jammu.

Other awardees are Avtar Krishan Bhat, Vivek Suri (Executive Editor Digital, Himalayan Mail), Dinesh Manhotra (Freelance Journalist), Bilal Ahmad Bhat (Bureau Chief, ANI), Razia Noor (Correspondent, Dainik Jagran), Sunil Ji Bhat (Deputy Editor & Jammu Bureau Head, Aaj Tak & India Today), Ishfaq Gowhar Zargar (Executive Editor, Gulistan News), Syed Khalid Hussain (Senior Special Correspondent, ZEE News) and Sarosh Kafeel (Bureau Chief, Kashmir News-18 JKLH).

The awards recognise sustained and meritorious work in the field of journalism across various media platforms, the order stated. (KNS)
