Srinagar/Jammu, Jan 02:

The Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council has issued a notice to all registered doctors emphasizing the importance of ethical conduct and the need to curb unethical practices and quackery.

The notice highlights the responsibility of doctors to ensure patient safety and uphold the integrity of the medical profession. It urges all registered doctors to strictly adhere to the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002.

The Key directives for doctors include: Government doctors must include their registration number issued by the J&K Medical Council on all prescriptions, patient records, and other relevant documents.

Private practitioners must display their registration number, qualifications, and specialties prominently in their clinics and on all prescriptions and certificates issued to patients.

Doctors are encouraged to use QR codes issued on their permanent registration certificates to enable patients to easily verify their credentials.

Legally attested copies of registered qualifications must be displayed at the place of private practice.

Doctors are authorized to practice only in their registered specialties.

The notice warns that any violation of these directives, including non-display of the registration number, will be considered professional misconduct and may result in disciplinary action.

The J&K Medical Council aims to ensure that patients receive quality care from qualified medical professionals and to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct within the medical profession in the region.
