Srinagar, Dec 02 :
The Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on Tuesday issued an official order confirming that the name of “Raj Bhawan, Jammu & Kashmir” has been changed to “Lok Bhavan, Jammu & Kashmir.”
As per the notification, issued by Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari (IAS), Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor a copy of which lies with SNS KASHMIR , the renaming has been carried out following a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, referenced through Memo No. 7/10/2025 (Part)-M&G dated 25/11/2025.
The order further states that the term “Raj Bhawan” will no longer be used in any official capacity and that “Lok Bhavan, Jammu & Kashmir” shall be the new and formal designation for the institution.
The change has been implemented with immediate effect, the notification reads.
