RAMBAN, NOVEMBER 11:

A delegation of JKAS officers posted in District Ramban today submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Ramban, expressing strong condemnation and deep anguish over the alleged assault on a fellow JKAS officer during election duty in Jammu district.

The officers referred to the incident of November 10, 2025, wherein Mr. Sunil Jasrotia, SDPO City South Jammu, along with his PSOs, allegedly assaulted, abused, and unlawfully detained Shri Azhar Khan, JKAS, BDO Nagrota, who was performing his duties as Nodal Officer (Transport) for Assembly Constituency 77 – Nagrota. Another official, Mr. Abbas Ali (VLW), was also reportedly assaulted during the episode.

The JKAS fraternity demanded the immediate suspension of the concerned SDPO, registration of an FIR under relevant laws against him and his associates, withdrawal of the false and frivolous FIR registered against Shri Azhar Khan, strict action against the erring police personnel, and an impartial inquiry by a senior IAS officer into the entire incident.

Expressing solidarity with the victim officer, the Ramban JKAS officers urged the administration to ensure justice, accountability, and protection of officers performing their lawful duties in the service of the public.
