The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced a 15% relaxation in the syllabus for students of Classes 10th, 11th and 12th for the Annual Regular 2025 (Oct–Nov) session, while the Class 10th examinations are set to begin from November 3.

In a statement issued by JKBOSE, nearly 95,000 students from Kashmir Division and winter zone areas of Jammu Division, including students from Ladakh UT, are taking up the exam, which the Government has restored to the October–November session.

As per the date sheet, the exams will commence on November 3 with the Mathematics paper followed by Social Science on November 7.

The examination for Science has been scheduled on November 11, while the English paper will be held on November 14.

The Urdu/Hindi papers have been scheduled on November 17 and vocational subjects on November 21. In between, the Computer Science paper will be held on November 19, it reads.

The examination will conclude on November 27 with Painting/Art and Drawing. In between, subjects with fewer candidates like Home Science on November 23, Music on November 25 and additional/optional subjects including Kashmiri/Dogri/Bhoti/Punjabi/Arabic/Urdu/Hindi/Persian/Sanskrit have been scheduled on November 24, it reads.

In consideration of disruptions in the academic calendar caused due to heat wave, torrential rains, cloudbursts and floods, the J&K BOSE has granted concession of 15%, making an attempt of 85% marks equivalent to 100%, the statement reads.

The J&K BOSE has urged students to prepare seriously for the examinations while renewing its commitment to conduct the exams with high standards of transparency, it reads.

The BOSE has exhorted invigilatory staff to be completely professional while discharging their duties to safeguard the purity and integrity of exams and has requested SED to extend cordial support in the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, reads the statement.

Meanwhile, in an official notification, the Director Academics in BOSE, has notified 15% relaxation in syllabus for students of Class 10th, 11th and 12th Annual Regular 2025 examination (Oct-Nov session).

Consequent upon the recommendations received from the DSEK/J and pleas from other stakeholders regarding reduction in syllabus due to the delayed commencement of the academic session this year coupled with disruptions in the academic calendar due to the heat wave, torrential rains, cloudbursts and floods, and as approved by the competent authority, it is hereby notified that the prospective eligible students appearing in class 10th, 11th and 12th in the ensuing Annual Regular 2025 examination (Oct-Nov session) in Kashmir Division and winter zone areas of Jammu Division including UT of Ladakh, shall attempt 85% marks which will correspond to 100% marks, availing thus 15% relaxation in syllabus.

The question papers shall, however, be set from the whole prescribed syllabus and the students will have to attempt any 85% marks from the question paper(s) within internal choice.

Each Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) attempted by the student shall be marked individually and the same pattern will be applicable to the grammar portion in language subjects, it reads.
