The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) has expressed strong support for the resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, advocating for the restoration of special status to the region. This development has been hailed as a significant step in the direction of addressing the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement, JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani expressed appreciation for the Assembly’s decision, calling it a positive move towards safeguarding the unique identity, culture, and rights of the people in the region.
“The Legislative Assembly has taken a bold and commendable step, representing the genuine aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The chief Minister Omar Abdullah by this resolution has given voice to the sentiments of the public, who have yearned for the restoration of their special status,” said Wani. He further emphasized that the move underscores the importance of honoring the historical context and distinctive identity of Jammu and Kashmir.
The JKCSF chairman also expressed hope that this resolution would resonate at higher levels of governance, including the central government.
