Srinagar, Dec 12:

Jammu & Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF), under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Abdul Qayoom Wani, expresses deep shock and serious concern over the recurring revelations of spurious drugs, rotten meat cartels, and now the alarming emergence of an “egg mafia.” These incidents pose a direct threat to the health, safety, and future of our people.

It is extremely unfortunate that such heinous crimes continue unchecked while the authorities responsible for safeguarding public health appear to be in deep slumber. JKCSF questions where the government machinery is, and who is monitoring the markets to prevent such life-threatening adulteration. It is painful that many officers and ministers enjoy princely lifestyles while the lives of common people are put at stake.

JKCSF demands:

Where are the inquiry reports?

What action has been taken so far?

Why are sample reports not made public?

The public perception that the drug mafia, rotten meat mafia, and adulterated food cartels are operating hand-in-glove with corrupt officials and political elements cannot be ignored anymore. The silence and inaction of concerned departments raise serious questions of accountability.

JKCSF makes a strong appeal to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and the Hon’ble Chief Minister to intervene personally, ensure a time-bound investigation, expose all those involved, and take strictest action. Those responsible for poisoning the population should be booked under PSA, as their actions amount to playing with the lives of present and future generations.

The people of Jammu & Kashmir are exhausted witnessing mere cosmetic statements and political drama repeated over decades. JKCSF reiterates its unwavering commitment to raise its voice against every issue that adversely affects the day-to-day life of the people of J&K in particular, and citizens of the country in general.
