SRINAGAR JUNE,12 :
In view of the ever increasing hike in electricity tarif Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has demanded the restoration of kerosine oil supply to general public besides rice and other items.
In a statement issued here JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani said that due to increased hike in the electricity tariff common it has become unaffordable for a man household living below poverty line to bear the expenses of electricity.
“Govt has stopped the subsidy supply of kerosine oil and other commodities like rice and the same has pushed the BPL population of the society to the wall. Now on the other hand due to too much hike in electricity fee the worries have compounded and the poor households have been ignored on all fronts. If Kashmir is a big resource of electricity generation then why its population should suffer for want of electricity and why should they get deprived of even from the kerosine oil which used to be the poor man’s fuel in difficult times” said Wani
Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has vehemently demanded the restoration of kerosine oil and other items like rice on ration depots on subsidy rates for the benefit of poor sections of the society. Society has also demanded that BPL household be exempted from hike of electricity fee and should be charged minimal fee as earlier.
