An accused has been convicted for a simple imprisonment of six months and fined Rs. 6,94,000 lakhs by the Judicial Magistrate Pattan Altaf Hussain Khan in a cheque bounce case.

Sources privy to the development told the news agency CNS that the convicted Nazir Ahmad Tantray, a resident of Tantraypora, Palhallan had issued number of cheques to a complainant Mukhtar Ahmad Khan, a resident of Warpora, Pattan in 2016 for the encashment in the concerned bank and were not honoured by the financial institution.

Later, they said, the case was brought to the court of law and several hearings were conducted in addition to the recordings of the number of witnesses in this regard.

“The court said that the complainant has succeeded in proving his complaint and accordingly the accused was sentenced to a simple imprisonment for the period of six months,” they added.

Besides sentencing the convicted, he was fined Rs. 6, 94,000 (six lakh and ninety four thousand rupees), which is double of the cheque amount to be paid to the complainant as compensation within a period of 30 days from the Judicial Magistrate Pattan’s verdict. (CNS)
