SRINAGAR ,OCTOBER,30 :

A National Conference was organized by the Department of Clinical Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant SKIMS under the aegis of the Kashmir Hematology Group (KHG) and the Indian Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (ISHBT). In a two-day conference around 550 delegates participated across the country, marking it as a vital platform for scientific exchange and collaboration.

Director SKIMS & EOSG Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie who was the Chief host on the occasion appreciated the Department of Clinical Hematology’s outstanding bone marrow transplant (BMT) services, especially recognizing the department for offering these crucial treatments at very low costs compared to other centres across the country. He highlighted SKIMS’s commitment to providing accessible healthcare to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, discussions were held with the Chief Guest on establishing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with prestigious national and international institutions to enhance hematology services to world-class standards

Dean Medical Faculty Prof. Dr. Shariq R Masoodi, commended the department’s strong DM program, offering valuable suggestions to further strengthen research and academic activities. Prof. Dr. Farooq A Jan, Medical Superintendent, expressed his pride in the conference’s success and pledged his continued support to the department.

The conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. R.K. Jena, Professor in the Department of Clinical Hematology at SCB Medical College, Cuttack, and Past President of ISHBT. Prof. Dr. Jena praised SKIMS for its high-quality healthcare services, including affordable BMT options, and assured his institute’s support whenever needed.

Dr. Javid Rasool extended his appreciation to the leadership and administrative team at SKIMS,including Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie, Director and Chief Host of KASHCON 2024; Prof.Dr. Shariq R Masoodi, Dean of Medical Faculty and Host; and Prof. Dr. Farooq A Jan, Medical Superintendent, for their invaluable support in the department’s smooth functioning and in making KASHCON SKIMS 2024 a resounding success. Dr. Rasool expressed his pleasure in welcoming national faculty who presented impactful lectures on critical topics, enriching the learning experience for attendees. The conference included vibrant scientific sessions, with contributions from faculty members nationwide and participation from SKIMS and other hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir. Poster presentations by delegates and postgraduate students showcased significant research, three awards presented for top posters; each awardee received a memento in recognition of their contributions.
